SPACE will showcase three projects by BOPP (the Bow Older People’s Project) at the St. Barnabas Community Fete. Inside the BOPP Tea Tent will be screenings of artist Elizabeth Hobbs’s film project featuring an animated depiction of daily life at the Bowhaven User Run Mental Health Centre. Michael Needham’s & Ashley McCormick’s film 21 Stories, a documentary on residents of the Clare House tower block in Bow, will be running throughout the day.

The SPACE Age Chorus, composed of thirty older women, will be performing a repertoire of jazz, doo-wop and popular songs by artists such as the Beach Boys and the Drifters on the Fete’s main stage between 1 and 2 pm. The Laundrettas, an all female performance group dressed as 1940’s housewives, will be performing in the BOPP Tea Tent where hot tea and cakes will be served by members of St. Paul’s Church. For the pleasures of dancing or relaxation, DJ Jackie will be on the decks with a set of 40’s and 50’s favourites. Other events hosted in the BOPP tent include a twist competition, sing-alongs, various games and a music quiz.
