Public Realm Commission - Call for Applicants
Groundwork Creswell are working in Partnership with Groundwork East Midlands’ Creative Regeneration Programme, Chesterfield Borough Council and the Friends of Stand Road Park to commission a permanent piece of public art for Stand Road Park, Chesterfield.
They are looking to appoint a professional artist with experience of working in the public realm - someone who makes exciting, contemporary work, has a proven track record and is familiar with issues surrounding planning permission, maintenance etc. They strongly encourage applications from the East Midlands Region, but welcome applications from further a field. Their aim is to commission work that is innovative, of the highest quality and appropriate for the site. They are open to functional or non-functional sculptural or land based work that can help create an identity for the park and encourage more people to use it.
Deadline: Noon Mon 17 Sep 2007
Interviews: The 5 short-listed artists will be invited for interview w/c 24 Sep 2007 and one artist will be selected to develop the project with the work installed by March 2008.
Fees: There is an overall budget of £8,000 ex. Vat to include artist fees, materials and installation for the public art works. Appropriate receipted travel expenses will be available for the interviews up to £50.
