emergency - Call for Submissions for live art/contemporary performance
emergency, the annual open platform for contemporary performance, live art and intervention returns for its 7th manic year, on Fri 28 and Sat 29 Sep 2007. North West artists working in live art, contemporary performance, time-based media and interdisciplinary arts are invited to submit proposals of short pieces of work, works in progress or extracts of longer works for inclusion in this event.
• a free public platform weekend
• an opportunity for North West artists to meet, show and peer review work
• a selection event for a number of small Method Lab commissions to be developed and supported by greenroom and hÅb
• an artist networking event.
Proposals should be for pieces with some live presence, 20 minutes maximum for show-type work, technically simple and adaptable to quick turnarounds. Intervention-based works in and around greenroom are also strongly encouraged.
Selection will be by Garfield Allen of greenroom and Tamsin Drury of hÅb.
Priorities are for high quality and exciting live art/contemporary performance work by North West based artists, which has not been seen in Manchester before. Proposals from non-North West based artists will be considered particularly if they are for interventions and/or for Workspace and Open Space, but due to high demand may not be successful in being included in the Performance Space programme.
The focus of the event is on non-linear performative work from a cross-artform background. We therefore advise that work that is primarily from a theatre, poetry, music or dance base would be better served by proposing to a different context.
